Thank you for these insights from your friends who indeed must be sad yet are wise enough to be open to joy in the present. And for your insight into how Westerners holidaying can perpetuate colonialist attitudes which perpetuate sadnesses.

Wise friends indeed. And I suppose everyone offers an infinite supply of insight. I loved the quote you shared in a recent post Sally, "The way we live is propositional. It’s a story we are telling. It changes. We can change it. Nothing is fixed. Nothing is fated." A good reminder. And as "non-western" people embrace western ideals, and westerners yearn for a deeper understanding of the east, the story gets ever more complex.

Your post has inspired me to less screen time, which has come about organically as well. Thanks for this, Gregory. And it's lovely that you're helping your friend.

Thats one of the best compliments you could offer, that these words inspired more interaction with the world away from the screen. May we all find such inspiration. All blessings to you Diana:)

I'm also feeling like I'm overdosing on words that are sounding like "blah, blah, blah" right now. That's the organic part, Gregory.
