I spent a few months in a small mountain town in Peru recently. I felt a different depth of living there in common daily interactions, sometimes from just a glance from an elderly woman sitting outside her home...in a hundred other ways I can't quite put into words yet. It embedded itself somewhere in me, because when I came back to the U.S. I immediately saw how much of that understanding between people is mostly missing. Anyways, thank you for the post, it takes me back to what I experienced there. I wish I could have kept that sense of being forever, and already I feel it running somewhat thin. I hope you keep writing, the experience is somewhat beyond words but for those of us who've been there, it's a crucial reminder. I think I was growing the capacity to see others and be seen by them for the first time in a very long time. Material comfort and wealth pales compared to it. They are completely different sets of perception, so really there's no comparison at all. Connection between people is a primary experience in places like that, whereas here it's basically an afterthought or something we find if we're lucky.

It is good to be seen by you Juntastico! (and I, in turn, see you...) All blessings.
I cannot imagine a worst life... :)
Community is serious business. Not for the faint of heart!
If you haven't tried it and completely given yourself to it, you cannot imagine it at all.
