Healthy people, healthy communities. Both require attending to what builds and sustains strength, resilience, and a depth of Spirit. Finding our place in the world, we give the best of who we are and what we have to help others find their place too. Yes, it can even be in Indiana!
I grew up, at least got older, still growing, next door in Ohio and we visited Indiana often as it was only 12 miles to the border. Southern Indiana this time of year is spectacular. I think I remember a place called French Lick and thought it such a funny name, wondered how it came to be but never looked it up. So, I just did and found this:” French Lick, Indiana was named after an 18th-century French trading post and a salt lick in the area.”
Me too. I think the main thing is to come to terms with the fact that we cant change the world. People will be who they are. But we can do magnificent work within our personal lives. We can be kind. We can listen. We can smile. Little by little, peace breaks out. Maybe not in our lifetime, but eventually...
I love this:
1) Speaking at an appropriate time, not an inappropriate time
2) Speaking truthfully, not falsely
3) Speaking gently, not harshly
4) Speaking in a beneficial way, not in a harmful way.
5) Speaking with a mind of mettā, not harbouring resentment.
Imagine how much more harmonious our world would be if we all did this.
Me too. So much. Imagine if we required this of politicians!

My family lives in Indiana. There is a lot of beauty there!

Amazing! I love looking into place names. It can be incredibly revealing.
come teach about the mud in our community ❤️
You mean like an adobe building workshop?! We did one a few years ago at the Trading Post! :)
Beautiful post. I’m grappling with how to build community in the midst of exponentially increasing trauma as the meta crisis unfolds…?

Thank you for speaking to such a grounded experience, and shared experience.
