Today marks the longest day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere. I am not big on celebrating most holidays that seem to dominate modernities calendar as they offer little more than an opportunity to buy stuff we don’t need, yet days like the Summer Solstice, which mark major moments of our grand inter-relations inspire me to take time aside from the usual grind to reflect, celebrate, come together with dear friends, and collectively offer prayer songs to that which gives us life. And feast!
Incidentally, today also marks World Localization Day, a global day celebrating the great returning back to a world many of us have forgotten where humans manage there own lives by telling there own stories, reviving there own educational systems, songlines, food systems, economies, etc. Initiated by one of my personal all-time heroines, Helena Norberg-Hodge , this international celebration welcomes all humans to collectively revive economics of happiness. Do take the time to join this growing movement and explore the inspiring efforts being made now globally to co-create a world beyond capitalism and business as usual. Local Futures offers a fantastic film which I encourage all to watch with friends, enemies and close family. (Link to film here:) Economics of Happiness
I will be taking a much needed break from electronics, work, etc for the next ten days (*no Saturday morning post coming this week). Not being in Thailand, this won’t have me retreating into Vipassana as it would mean there, but instead into the Wilderness of the Eastern Sierra Mountains of California. There I will reunite with a grand network of experiential educators and thought pioneers from around the world to celebrate life and cross-pollinate prayer/visions for our collective, intergenerational unfolding, interweaving becomings as we offer our dedicated surrender up under Payahuunadü skies and re-member how much we all need each other.
I pray the same for all of you.
Take time to care for each other at this joyful juncture.
Bask in awe at the unfathomable beauty that is the Gift of Life our Father Sun provides. Dance. Sing. Listen::::
Eat well. Share.
All blessings:::
Happy Solstice.
